Every year, hundreds of thousands of women forgo breast reconstruction after cancer. Healshape may have changed the game: 3D bioprinting restores women's own breasts after a mastectomy.
Behind every mastectomy lies a woman facing a difficult decision: to accept living without reconstruction or to embark on a surgical journey that is long, uncertain, and sometimes painful. In France, only 30% of patients choose this path following a breast removal. Globally, the proportion does not exceed 50%. These figures, far from being insignificant, reflect a reality that conventional medicine has yet to solve: the fear of synthetic implants, the concern about complications, and the apprehension regarding the multiple interventions required.
